How CeMAP Practice reached the first page of Google in a field held by the training providers

The result

First page of Google for core CeMAP terms. 81/100 on the audit. Both checkable in a minute.

Audit score on cemappractice.co.uk: 81 / 100 (Grade A) — verifiable at /audit.

A new practice-paper site has no business ranking in a corner of search held by the established training providers. This one does.

The challenge

CeMAP is the qualification that gatekeeps mortgage advice in the UK. Search for practice papers and the results have long belonged to the training academies — organisations with years of domain authority and the budgets to defend it. A new entrant competing on those terms through classical SEO alone is a multi-year project with no guarantee at the end of it.

What we did differently

CeMAP Practice was built the way an exam site should be built for a web that AI reads. Every mock paper is structured and timed, and every question carries a worked explanation. That is fact-dense, question-and-answer content — the exact shape AI engines and Google's own systems lift from when someone asks a specific question.

Underneath sits the structural work: semantic HTML, comprehensive schema, a clean heading hierarchy, an llms.txt file, and explicit permissions for the AI crawlers. None of it exotic. Most sites in the category simply never do it.

What happened

The site now sits on the first page of Google for core CeMAP terms. The individual unit and paper pages rank in the top handful of results, not buried on page six. It scores 81 out of 100 on the AI Readiness Audit — a Grade A. You can re-run that score at /audit and check the rankings on Google in the same minute.

Why we can prove it

That last part is the point. Dyfyn built the audit and the live citation checker that measure this. The technical work and the tools that verify it come from the same place, so the effect of a fix is visible straight away rather than asserted on a slide. The schema goes in, the score moves, and you watch it move.

What this means for other businesses

CeMAP Practice isn't a fluke of a quiet niche. It's the same pattern that works wherever a category is held by incumbents who never did the structural work: get read cleanly, answer real questions in extractable form, and take the first-mover position while the field is still open. That window is open now. It won't stay open.

That's the work — proven on our own sites first.
